Wandering the Web
As I’ve mentioned already, backcountry skiing is the choice activity this month, but our training program is in full swing. We’ve taken a sample program out of the book Training for Climbing, and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of results we get. And while plastic is all I’m pulling for now, there’s still some cool things going on out there in climbing cyberspaceland.
First up, the Trango 2009 Homemade Cam World Cup over at rockclimbing.com. The gist of the contest is that you build a camming device and submit it for review in a variety of categories, from strength to looks. Pretty cool concept, it’ll be interesting to see how many people actual enter a contest that is somewhat complicated.
Another cool site I found the other day is gearsamples.com. What they do is sell off old sample sizes of Arc’teryx, Icebreaker, Patagonia, Chaco, prAna and Timbuk2 at prices that are comprable to prodeal. The only catch is most sample sizes are medium, so if you are a bigger or smaller person, you may be out of luck, but at those prices it’s worth a look. Enjoy.
