We just spent a wonderful 7 days in the small village of Sayulita in Mexico for our honeymoon. Lots of sunshine and warm surf made for an excellent trip. Everything was very laid back down there, a refreshing change from the breakneck pace things travel in the US. Why are we in such a rush anyway?
We finished up our trip by climbing the Yellow Spur in Eldo on Sunday, what a great route! Back here at home, with all the cold temps some of the local ice is probably on it’s way in. The chimney by the Three Sisters is usually one of the best bets in the early season. I’ll be adding some more things to the site as I get settled back in to daily life. Look for a trip reports section, as well as some updated photos.

I was playing around on Google and found this Dever Post article about Glenwood Canyon. It has some suprisingly good information about the climbing in the canyon, they probably grabbed it from Mountain Project. Funny to read about some obscure local climbing in the Denver Post.
Also, the Coal Creek topo has been updated, you can grab it here.

I know a lot of folks were scratching their heads on Saturday morning. Friday night the forecast was for a 20% chance of rain and partly cloudy skies. What we got was a full on low pressure system. Maybe one of the weather forecasters got dumped by his girlfriend this week and wanted everyone else to be miserable too. He knew we would all be looking forward to a sunny weekend since it’s been so rainy, so he made a good forecast even though he knew a major system was headed our way. We all woke up on Saturday and were competely baffled by the steady rain. You won this time mr weatherman, you won this time.
I guess this should make us appreciate the sunny, non-el nino fall’s all the more. And if this keeps up, it could be one heck of a winter. There’s a lot of water in the ground, if it gets cold the early season ice climbing could be excellent. We’ll see.

The Roaring Fork Climber’s Coalition met with the BLM yesterday. Get the latest update here. The RFCC will have a webpage up soon with info about local access issues and how you can help.

Well, it’s official! Tracy and I were married on Saturday at Maroon Lake. The weather was iffy right up to the ceremony, and then the clouds parted, the sun came out, you could see fresh snow on the Bells, and it went great. Hopefully I can get back to some regular updates now that the craziness of the wedding is past. The newly formed Roaring Fork Climbers Coalition is meeting with the BLM on Wednesday to discuss the access to Thompson Creek. I’ll post the results of that meeting. Climbing is still OK out there for now, just no more bolts. Stay tuned.
