The Open Road

What is it about the open road that calls to us? And not just any open road, but the wide open highways of the West, where the landscape fades to the edges of the horizon, where the possibilities are as endless and big as the scenery.

My wife and I travel…a lot. We generally spend more weekends away then we do at home. Rattling off our schedule to a group of friends, most look at us like we are crazy. But we both feel the pull of the open road in a strong way, and at this point in our lives, it’s a pull we can give in to. Once kids come along it will be a little more complicated than throwing everything in the van, grabbing the dog and heading out for the weekend. So for now, we go, wherever it is we are lead. And the destination really isn’t even that important, as cliché as it sounds, but the adventures we have along the way.

As summer opens up before you, I hope you’ll feel the pull of the road and respond to its call. See new sights, make new friends, and explore new areas. Or reconnect with old ones that hold many dear memories, and make some new ones along the way.
