Jonny Copp, Micah Dash and Wade Johnson were attempting to climb a peak in the Western Sichuan Province, and were supposed to fly out on June 3rd.
According to this AP report that came in Saturday morning, one body has been found but not identified. As of Friday morning, several strong American climbers were en route, including Eric Decaria, Nick Martino, Pete Takeda and Steve Su, and hopefully more details are coming. I’ve never met Wade or Micah, but I have run into Jonny Copp over the last couple of years and he always struck me as a genuine and sincere fellow. Our prayers go out to these climbers and their families, and we’re hoping for some good news.
